Whitley Bay Whitley Bay FOOTBALL CLUB H aving first been established in 1897, Whitley Bay FC is a club that has put together a history of which they have every right to be proud. They have a close affinity with the FA Vase having won the prestigious competition an incredible four times, including a hat-trick of triumphs between 2009 and 2011, an achievement that will be difficult to match. One of the key components in their triumphs was striker Paul Chow. Having recently announced his return to Jarrow Roofing, now seemed like the perfect time to take a look back at all that he achieved for the club. In the eight seasons that Chow played, his record speaks for itself with an incredible 270 goals netted in his 404 appearances. There were plenty more achievements for Chow as he demonstrated the remarkable ability to write his own script when he netted in three consecutive cup finals at Wembley, also becoming the first player to score in every round of the vase. Additionally, his 21 second opener against Wroxham is the fastest goal scored to date at the new Wemble y Stadium. Speaking to the club’s official website, Whitley Chairman Paul McIlduff was quick to pay tribute to the fantastic contribution made by Chow, saying, “Paul has been a fantastic servant to the club during his eight years with us and we wish him nothing but the best in his new venture with Jarrow. He has been a very big part in some of the greatest moments in the history of Whitley Bay Football Club and, on behalf of myself and the other directors, would like to publically thank him for everything he has done to help raise the profile of Whitley Bay.” Competing in the hugely competitive Northern League Division 1 this time around their first team has put together a solid campaign up to now. After 36 matches of the season they have put together a record of 16 wins, 3 draws and 17 defeats from their first 36 matches which sees them sitting in a mid-table position with 51 points on the board.
