We do youth camps during school holidays to give the youngsters of the local area experience of what we are doing. It’s really important to us that we have a really strong youth system in place to help players from the local area to reach their full potential.” Community “Albion Rovers has always been a major part of the community. We’re very well supported by local businesses and we work hard to return their support, taking part in a lot of community projects. We work in conjunction with North Lanarkshire Council and Cowbridge College to teach people that maybe haven’t received the opportunities others have, the social skills to help them develop. We fund that project and have a number of others aimed at involving the community in the club in as many ways as we possibly can.” Challenges “At our level of football the hardest thing is always trying to attract new fans. We brought out an initiative last year where we allowed fans to pay what they want for one match. That managed to up the gate by around 400 and we also had an initiative at the start of the season where we allowed supporters to pay what they wanted on their season ticket with the minimum being £10. We sold 700 season tickets where normally we would sell 120 and are always looking to bring as many people as possible through the gate. It’s also important to keep a balance financially as it is an expensive thing running a football club.” Reigart Demolition “We’re lucky that we have a good community with some kind business that help us. Reigart Demolition in particular have been very kind to the club and have just given us a brand new sponsorship deal for £150,000 over 5 years which is a phenomenal gesture and makes a huge difference to the club. They’ve never really asked for any press but I think it’s time that people realise what they have done for our club because the kindness they’ve shown us has been incredible.” at a good level on the field.
