We’re looking to install an artificial pitch
to give us somewhere to train young
players. We do youth camps during
school holidays to give the youngsters of
the local area experience of what we are
doing. It’s really important to us that we
have a really strong youth system in place
to help players from the local area to reach
their full potential.”
Community
“Albion Rovers has always been a major
part of the community. We’re very well
supported by local businesses and we
work hard to return their support, taking
part in a lot of community projects.
We work in conjunction with North
Lanarkshire Council and Cowbridge
College to teach people that maybe
haven’t received the opportunities
others have, the social skills to help them
develop. We fund that project and have a
number of others aimed at involving the
community in the club in as many ways
as we possibly can.”
Challenges
“At our level of football the hardest thing
is always trying to attract new fans. We
brought out an initiative last year where
we allowed fans to pay what they want
for one match. That managed to up the
gate by around 400 and we also had an
initiative at the start of the season where
we allowed supporters to pay what they
wanted on their season ticket with the
minimum being £10. We sold 700 season
tickets where normally we would sell
120 and are always looking to bring as
many people as possible through the
gate. It’s also important to keep a balance
financially as it is an expensive thing
running a football club.”
Reigart Demolition
“We’re lucky that we have a good
community with some kind business that
help us. Reigart Demolition in particular
have been very kind to the club and have
just given us a brand new sponsorship
deal for £150,000 over 5 years which is a
phenomenal gesture and makes a huge
difference to the club. They’ve never
really asked for any press but I think it’s
time that people realise what they have
done for our club because the kindness
they’ve shown us has been incredible.”
at a good level on the field. We want to
achieve as much as we can both on and
off the field and establishing ourselves
in the league above would be great for
us. We feel we’ve got the players and the
mentality in place to do that; it won’t be
easy but we’re going to do everything we
can to achieve that.”
Pay Us a Visit
“For any football fan that has nowhere to
go on a Saturday afternoon I invite you
to come down to our place and watch us
play because it’s certainly entertaining
here. I think this is a team that will give
you honest hard work and graft that will
give you a sense of pride when we win.
We’ve invested a lot of money to improve
our stadium to ensure that fans can enjoy
the best match day experience possible.
This is a community club, with a family
feel and we’re confident that if you come
along to Albion Rovers you will not be
disappointed.”
Ambitions
“We want to keep our fans happy over the
coming years and can do this by playing
