Atherstone Town
COMMUNITY FOOTBALL CLUB
Atherstone Town CFC is based at the Mark Webster Community
Stadium on Sheepy Road in Warwickshire and their first team currently
competes in the Midland Football League Division 1. They are led by
Chairman Brian Henney who is supported by Secretary David Turner
and the club is looking to progress under their guidance.
The club was first established in 1887 and has gone on
to put together a history of which they have every right to
be proud. They have enjoyed great success in the Midland
Combination League over the years winning a variety of
different trophies.
The club also has a special affinity with the Birmingham
Senior Cup which they have won on two occasions. The
current group of players will be keen to add to these
successes over the coming years. They are affectionately
known by their supporters as the Adders.
This season their first team put together a fine league
campaign as they compiled a record of twenty-six wins,
five draws and five defeats from their thirty-six matches.
This saw them finish in third position in the league with
eighty-three points on the board.
While this meant that they narrowly missed out on
promotion this should not take away from the fine work
being carried out at the club. As long as they are able to
retain their current group of players and can perhaps
make one or two quality additions they should be well set
up for a successful campaign next season.
One of the highlights of the team’s performances this
season has been the attacking brand of football that they
have been able to produce. This has been reflected by the
