FOOTBALL CLUB
There has been plenty going on at Wick FC this year. Football Focus
Magazine recently caught up with Club Representative Keith Croft
to find out more about how they have been getting along.
Involvement
He told us, “I have been involved
with Wick FC for approximately fifty
two years, on and off, I first played
for Wick in 1967 in my very first game
against Three Bridges; I was taken as
a substitute and Bob Scutt, one of the
regulars got injured with 5 or 10 mins
of the game left, and I went on. Don’t
think I touched the ball, but it was
my first experience with the Wick 1st
Eleven.
I have travelled to a few other
clubs, Littlehampton, Selsey but
always returned to Wick, and joined
the Committee in approximately
16 Issue 85
1973/74 and help run the club by
starting as the Social Secretary, then
had spells off and on the committee
more on than off, but have been
totally involved in various capacities
since the late 80’s early 90’s. I was
chairman up until 2015 when health
affected me and I had to resign and I
was made President which is the role
I still hold.”
The Role
“In all honesty I thought I could
take a backward step and just enjoy
the football and the chat and banter
that goes on after in the clubhouse,
but that has not been the case, I have
become involved in various aspects of
the club, of which I am happy to do.
We have a new committee who
have taken over the club and are
doing a brilliant job, we have a new
Secretary Trevor Knell, and we have
a new Chairman Kevin Howard, who
are working well, and things seem to
be going in the right direction, at least
off the pitch. To see the Club in good
hands is rewarding as they seem to
have good values and want the same
objectives.
Challenging areas are finding
more Committee; it is difficult to get
people to commit to being involved
