TCL Packaging Invests In New Solvent-Free Laminator “Not only is the new laminator helping clear our order backlog, its solventfree application is ensuring we continue to exceed our environmental targets” concludes Langford. TCL Packaging has installed and commissioned a new Laminastar 4 solvent-free laminator from French manufacturer DCM USIMECA at its new premises in Telford. This is to increase supply of the company’s packaging films. The latter part of 2014 saw unprecedented demand levels for printed and laminated packaging films across the industry. The usual seasonal demands were expanded significantly by late requests for new films to meet the labelling deadline for the European food information regulations (FIR). “The new laminator could not begin working soon enough for our production team who have been working around-the-clock and in shifts over the Christmas and New Year break to meet demand” said Production Manager Dean Langford. “Its rapid cylinder changeover time and capacity for wide films is already taking the pressure from our existing combined coater-laminator. It has also freed up our three flexographic presses to focus fully on print production rather than supporting with coatings and treatments.
