Support in the south
THE HOUSING SA Connecting People
to Place service delivery approach is
paying dividends for people in Adelaide’s
southern suburbs.
The approach drives the way Housing SA
delivers services to better respond to the
changing needs of its customers. It is an
investment in long-term, high-quality
frontline services to provide better
outcomes for everyone.
Connecting People to Place makes it
easier for customers to connect with the
most appropriate services to maintain a
successful tenancy, and assists them to
engage in their local community.

Peter’s story
Peter (not his real name) went to Housing
SA at Marion for assistance, stating he
was being evicted from his private rental
property after losing his job and falling
behind in his rent.
Peter had tried unsuccessfully to find
alternative accommodation. He was
distressed and at risk of self-harm.
Peter then met with a Housing SA Access
Worker to discuss housing options
and determine his eligibility for financial
assistance.
Housing SA helped Peter arrange a crisis
mental health assessment and provided
financial assistance and support to find an
alternative private rental property.
Housing SA also provided a referral to a
local not-for-profit support service to help
Peter get back on his feet and maintain a
successful tenancy.
Peter has now secured a 12-month lease
and is doing well.
