Guest rooms are done in muted shades of charcoal , gray and tan . Floor-to-ceiling windows bring in views of distant landmarks
( the Capitol , the Washington Monument , and across the Potomac in Alexandria , Va ., the George Washington National Masonic Memorial ). The rooms are contemporary , with platform beds and sleek built-ins . Bathrooms have roomy glass showers and touch-control lighting imbedded in the mirrors . Amenities include connectivity ports , flat-screen TVs , bathrobes , safes and minibars . Roomy corner suites feature wraparound views . The largest of the digs , the two-bedroom Presidential and Chairman Suites , encompass 3,200 square feet each .
The two-level spa has 11 treatment rooms and a separate fitness center . ( The fitness center is open to hotel guests ; non-guests can book spa appointments .) The all-white sanctum has a futuristic feel . One unusual feature : Large windows in the treatment rooms let in natural light , if desired .
Retail shops in the complex include actress Sarah Jessica Parker ’ s first bricks-and-mortar store . SJP sells shoes ( naturally ), along with bags and other accessories , plus selections from her LBD ( Little Black Dress ) line . Word is , she was on hand to unpack and arrange merchandise before the grand opening .
