CHEF GEOFF’S Dulles International Airport, Concourse C A D.C. mainstay for over 25 years, Geoff Tracy is proud of his commitment to collaborating with local vendors at each of his four restaurants. “We work closely with many great local businesses, including many fantastic local breweries,” he explains. Chef Geoff’s Dulles location (in Concourse C) highlights an array of local favorite lagers, ciders and pale ales from popular vendors Old Dominion, Starr Hill, Bold Rock and DC Brau. Tracy himself even gets in on the brewery action, through the Chef Geoff’s Star IPA. Have a minute in between flights? Take a load off over a flight of these beers. David Buerk VINO VOLO Dulles International Airport, Concourse B An upscale food and wine bar that has garnered respect from the Virginia wine community, Vino Volo at Dulles International’s Concourse B commits itself to introducing the state’s best wines to the rest of the world. “As part of our company-wide commitment to offering our guests a mix of great local and global wines,” Vino Volo CEO Doug Tomlinson explains, “the team hand-selects all of our wines to provide an interesting mix of styles and wineries. Prince Michel Vineyard & Winery and Chrysalis are both featured for their reds (a dry Cabernet Franc for Prince Michel and a sweet red from Chrysalis), while Walsh Family Wine’s Viognier is a perfect white to enjoy before boarding your next vacation. Vino Volo also spotlights a Friends and Family Bordeaux blend from RdV Vineyards, which has been featured in Forbes, the Washingtonian, and The Washington Post. Chef Michael Symon pairs his signature gourmet comfort food with a bevy of brews from Chesapeake Brewing Company and DC Brau Brewing Company, all in a sleekly modern tap house setting. The restaurant, stationed in Dulles International’s Concourse D, has previously offered selections from local vendors Lost Rhino, Blue Mountain Brewery, and Flying Dog Brewery in Maryland. According to Brian Deibel, Director of Business Performance and Technology for Michael Symon Restaurants, “We will continue to feature these breweries with year-round brews as well as specialty seasonal products throughout the year,” because “it’s important to not only support great quality craft beer producers, but also to support our local D.C. community.” LEGAL SEA FOODS Reagan National Airport, Pre-Security Near Terminal B/C The fare at this well-known seafood spot may be closer to that of New England, but the beer offerings are all Virginia. This “locavore” regional pride is a return to the way things used to be, as Sandy Block, VP of Beverage, explains. “Before the advent of national brands in the late 19th century,” Block says, “every neighborhood in a US city had its brewery, and people drank what was local.” At Reagan National’s Terminal B/C, Legal follows in this tradition by providing Flying Dog and Devils Backbone in bottles and cans, as well as a pilsner and porter from Port City. These are just a handful of the massive number of dining options serving local beer and wine at Dulles International and Reagan National Airports. On your next flight with us, stop by any of our critically acclaimed restaurants to learn more about this exciting moment in Virginia’s brewery and winery industries — and taste for 9 yourself.
