Mark understood and agreed. He told Sophie to get ready: they were going to visit her mom and sister. Sophie was so happy she was skipping around and finally stopped asking questions.

On their way to the car, Mark took a glimpse at the butterfly cocoon. He saw it was starting to hatch:

“Look, Sophie. Maybe she will be out by the time we are back,” said Mark, pointing at the cocoon. What he had not told Sophie is that many butterflies don’t really make it out alive. He didn’t feel the need to say it, he knew life would eventually teach her that.
