October 16 11th Annual Taste of the Beach From noon - 5 p.m. enjoy delicious food from fourteen St. Augustine Beach area restaurants as they compete for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes for appetizer, entree and dessert in addition to Judge’s Choice, Best Booth Display and People’s Choice. Attendees can place $1 in the jar created for each restaurant to cast a vote for People’s Choice winner. Proceeds benefit Betty Griffin House, a shelter and service provider for victims of abuse and their families. This is a cash only event. Enjoy free parking and shuttle ride to the pier from St. Augustine Beach City Hall located at 2200 A1A South. www.sabca.org October 22 Castillo by Candlelight: Taking the Plunge In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month and the Centennial of the National Park Service, this special ticketed event leads visitors in the footsteps of a young Spanish boy joining the Spanish Garrison at the Castillo de San Marcos to defend his home, his family and his country.
