Dan Walters has been photographing wildlife for nearly 20 years and is passionate
about photographing birds. He can usually be found in the field every day, where
he challenges himself to capture their color and variety as well as each bird’s
unique behavior.
Living in Colorado provides Dan with a wide variety of ecosystems to
photograph in. From the prairie to the alpine tundra, he has numerous subjects to
choose from.
Dan has been published in Colorado Outdoors, Colorado Life Magazine, Ranger
Rick Jr. Magazine, Bugle Magazine, Impact Publishing, Blue sky Publishing, Smith-

Photo Safari to Anastasia State Park | Field Workshop

The natural beach habitat of Anastasia State Park is a great place to photograph
the royal terns and other birds. There are plenty of opportunities to capture
unique behavior and birds in flight. Join Dan Walters at sunrise as he leads
participants to where the birds hang out!
Participants can look forward to learning how to photograph the terns in
flight, emphasizing focus points in the camera, and exposure techniques. Learn
how to expose properly to capture a white bird in bright sun by using manual
mode settings.

ready to go so you do not miss out or hold up the group. Each field workshop will begin with

Learn the essentials for shooting then put those skills into practice on our photo walk.
You can create amazing images with gear you already have (your camera and tripod),
and you can do even more with some simple tools and tricks. This class will cover the
right equipment to use, from basic to advanced, as well as the proper techniques in
photographing and processing to ensure a great end result. Suggested Gear List: One DSLR, Short
zoom lens – 24-70mm, 24-105mm, etc., Mid zoom lens – 70-200mm, etc., Tripod (required), Ballhead, Cable release.

Brett Wells has worked in the field of photography for over 20 years. He has a
masters degree in photography from the University of Westminster, London,
UK. He taught at the Art Institute of Atlanta for 7 years and currently teaches
workshops around the United States. His work has been published and exhibited
in this country and abroad.
Brett is a Technical Representative for Sigma Corporation of America, supporting
Sigma photographers and photographic education around the country.
