Becoming a Pro.
Shortly after his win at Leaming-
ton, Khan wanted to complete
another mile-stone in his bodybuild-
ing career by competing at the
British championships. To be
crowned British Champion was
something he had always aspired to,
especially acknowledging the great
competitors he would be up against.
Before long, it was time for Khan
to step on stage in the competition,
and sure enough, he became British
Champion, earning him his pro
status.
Sponsorship offers began
flooding in from around the world.
Khan was overwhelmed and felt so
lucky to have so many companies
appreciate his overall physique
package, but he jumped at the
opportunity to sign a deal with
MET-RX, a company he had known
since he was a child and a power-
house within the fitness industry.
Fellow athletes representing the
brand included the legendary fitness
icon Greg Plitt (RIP) and now the Mr.
Olympia, Phil Heath. For several
years Khan travelled with these
great sportsmen and learned many
valuable life lessons from them.
Being a sponsored athlete offered
many luxuries, but Khan still felt the
greatest gift that came with the gig
was that it gave him a platform to
demonstrate to bodybuilders
around the world, that the physique
of greats such as Bob Paris, Frank
Zane and Serge Nubret was back,
and could be achieved by upcoming
athletes.
As he eventually wound down his
career as a competitive athlete,
Khan watched, with great interest,
the rise of categories such as the
physique classes, and looks back
and smiles. He reflects on how hard
he worked and recognises that
being one of the first classic pro
athletes can have a profound impact
on the entire fitness market.
With all that said, Khan’s focus in
life now is to help upcoming athletes
achieve their dream physique and
help them reach heights they never
imagined possible.
