Four TQA Scribes to RSPC
By: Shaina Marielle Dioso
Four TQA student journalists were able to
make it to the Regional Schools Press Conference
after they proved their writing prowess as they
topped the different writing competition areas
during the Division Schools Press Conference ’14
( DSPC ) held at the Dadiangas South Central
Elementary School, General Santos City, October
28-29.
These young journalists bested other writers
from both public and private schools in the city.
Aeron Jan O. Sanidad, a Grade 9 student at
the same time the present Optics Editor in Chief
’14, and the regions’ participant to the national level
last year holds the same title as the sports writer
champion, English, secondary level.
Koleen Omila, Grade 10, bagged the first
place in the Science and Technology writing, Roma
Therese T. Bartolome , Grade 9, won second place
in news writing.
Juliana March S. Mendoza, a neophyte
Grade 6 student writer undoubtedly clinched the
first place in feature writing. Given the topic about
what books they want to read, her article with the
title, “A Portal to a New World,” which bore her
expertise in using the English language and her
good style in writing captured the hearts of the
judges.
Sanidad, Omila, Bartolome, and Mendoza
will be competing in the RSPC on December 11-14,
at Sto. Niño, South Cotabato.
Along with these writers, were DSPC
winners: Eighth place – Alyanna Alcoran (Editorial
writing- Elementary Level), Fourth place – Keziah
Acharon (Feature Writing), Fourth Place - John
Rafael (Copy reading and Headline Writing), Fifth
place – Denise Congson (Photojournalism), and
Sixth place – Adah Rafael (Editorial Writing).
As the saying goes, “these young journalists
will continue to write…”
