Otherwise, a French author when he creates a character without characterizing it from the ethnic point of view, for the producer, the scriptwriter, the casting director, it goes without saying that it is a role for a white comedian. We cannot blame the French authors to create characters of French Caucasians, it would be foolish! But we can blame them for not enough acknowledging that the French population has been taking some colors, there are French of all origins. One can also blame them for proposing too often roles, characterized from the ethnic point of view just to illustrate a cliché. It means that we must take care of ourselves.

In Je demande la Route (I ask the way) your new show you sometimes go intimate, speaking of the excision you have suffered, in a kind of clitoral monologue. Is it a way to cure yourself of certain ills by laughing?

Yes, of course, we can say that. Talking about my excision is something that has been working on me for a long time. It took me a long time to find the right form, the right tone.

With this monologue we found an original way to approach the subject, mixing humor and emotion while trying to be as fair as possible. Because beyond my personal case, I also try to raise awareness, to evolve the consciousness on these mutilations of another age. The show was performed in Guinea Conakry where excision is widespread, the clitoral dialogue, as you call it, was very well received. I want to see this as a sign that mentalities are changing.

From your artistic career what is the anecdote that has most marked you?

When my mother first saw my show Je Demande la route at the Festival du Chaînon-manquant (of the Missing Link) in Laval

Does your job as an artist has an influence on your life as a woman? One is distinct from the other or do these lives form a homogeneous block?

It's a difficult question, being an actress is a job a bit special. When I worked in fashion, I had a clear schedule, my days had a beginning and an end, I had Weekends.
