Activities FRIENDSHIP, TEAMWORK, AND FUN BY AIMEE TAPECERIA PHOTO CREDIT: DHANY IRAWAN “I truly enjoyed the Sports Fest, especially how our team came together” remarked student Benjamin McKenzie. “Sunia and I really got together in the football field” he added jokingly as he 18 Flags | March 2014 showed off the bandage over his left eye “that is why I have three stitches on my brow.” This student from United Kingdom ran into teammate and faculty member Sunia Fukofuka after they collided on the football field during AIIAS Sports Fest held January 30 to February 2, 2014. All registered students, faculty, and staff of AIIAS were divided into four teams and assigned student team captains with faculty sponsors. To prove that this was an event for the whole family, all immediate family members were encouraged to participate in the event. During those four days, the teams competed in basketball, volleyball, football, badminton, table tennis, tennis, chess, and darts. Track and field, tug of war, and an international food fair were added into the mix during the last day to give a truly active, vibrant, and festive atmosphere. In such a diverse community it is fun to make friends while playing sports. The exercise also provides an outlet for busy students and faculty to develop “Friendship, Teamwork, and Fun.” O PHOTO CREDIT: DHANY IRAWAN
