Kohola (Humpback Whales) return to Maui each year because the warm shallow waters are an ideal

place to mate, give birth and nurse newborn

calves. Behaviors like breaching, pec and

tail slapping, and spy hopping are often

seen from dive boats. Underwater

divers can hear male Humpbacks

singing, and if close enough,

feel the musical vibrations.
