Get Hooked!
Cor’s Corner...
by Corinne Brown
There has been a ton - several tons, actually - of new equipment
arriving at Fitness Incentive over the past few months, the latest
being the revolutionary Queenax Functional Training system
that is featured prominently in this issue of Fit to Print. This
system has been the big buzz in the gym since its arrival,
and justifiably so. I mean, just take a look at it! Amazing!
There's almost nothing that you can't do with it. The
possibilities are virtually endless, limited only by your
fitness imagination. And if you're out of ideas, place
yourself in the hands of one or our superlative personal
trainers and let them show you what the Queenax can do
for you. Either way, get in there and try it! It’s simply too
good to pass up.
A Word on Indoor Cycling
Before the Queenax came the Matrix Cycles, with their unique and equally
revolutionary "Coach by Color" training system. Let me just come out and say it: I am
hooked on the incredible high I get from indoor cycling! As a longtime running
enthusiast, trust me when I tell you that it is just as great as, if not better than
running. You sweat and burn calories like crazy, and the challenge of staying in your
Matrix Cycle color zone is challenging and motivating at the same time. Most
importantly, cycling is a no-impact safe workout, so I can get the high without
enduring the pounding I used to take from distance running. With all the hours I
spend teaching you might think that there would be no way for me to improve my
fitness. But cycling has taken me to a new level, enabling me to achieve the best
overall conditioning I’ve ever had. I believe it has even made me a stronger
instructor. I should also mention one other side benefit if, like me, you love to eat
good food. Since I've been regularly cycling, I am eating more while maintaining a
lean, strong and healthy body. On top of that, I complete my everyday tasks and
chores with an ease that I correlate directly to the arrival of the new Matrix bikes.
trunk of your car to your kitchen counter,
or climb three flights of stairs without
pausing to regroup, or maybe just doing
your gardening. Whatever it is that you
need to do, that you want to do, that
you love to do or that you simply must
do, functional fitness is what is required.
How do you achieve it? Training with a
purpose has as many options as there are
goals. For some it means developing a
workout routine that overcomes injury or
illness. For others it means being and
staying strong for the demands of rasing
a young family. For others it means
staying young no matter how many years
they accumulate. The approach is
different for everyone, based on their
situation, goals, and preferences. For
some it will be through yoga, for others
it might be through traditional weight
lifting. Whatever works for you.
That’s the idea behind so much of what
we try to do at FI. The Queenax system,
for example, was specifically chosen
because of it’s versatility and economical
use of space. It provides you with so
many ways to achieve functional fitness
that we haven’t even discovered them
all yet! And we will continue to invest in
our facility, every year, seeking to
motivate and entertain you with a stateof-the-art fitness experience. Something
that makes you look forward to your trip
to the gym. We also continue to invest in
our staff, bringing advance certifications
on site to keep them ahead of the curve
and able to provide you with expert up-
But it's not just the bikes, as great as they are. I am also excited and motivated by
FI’s amazing cycling instructors! Thank you for always challenging me in a fun way.
