Kristin on the Queenax Bridge...the possibilities are endless!
better. I took some time off and
networked with some professional
female boxers in New York City and
New Jersey, and from that day forward,
I wou ld train all week on Long Island. I
picked up sparring and on the weekends
I would commute to Gleason’s Gym,
Mendez Boxing, and Global Boxing gym,
where some of the toughest amateur
and professional boxers worked out! I
worked closely with Cristy “Code Red”
Nickel (MTV’s Made Coach/Professional
Boxer) as well as Maureen “Million
Dollar Baby” Shea (Professional Boxer)
as well as Eddie Haeffer, and my boxing
career took off! I signed up for the
Golden Gloves again in 2009, and my
first fight was one of the toughest. I
broke my nose and split my eye in the
2nd round of that fight, and everyone
thought I was going to lose. But I
bounced back, and not only won that
fight but won my next few. I fought at
16
Madison Square Garden in front of
some boxing legends and took home
the Title in April of 2009.
My Spartan races started out just as
something different to do and get a
little dirty while challenging myself.
My first year, I finished covered in cuts
and bruises and was mentally
exhausted! I started getting serious
about Power X, and along with my
individual training and Kelly Wallace
pushing me…well, this past year I
competed to try to get my Spartan
Trifecta (racing in all three series of
Spartan races). The three races range
from 3-5 miles all the way up to 12-16
miles, all in the mountains. This past
race season, not only did I survive the
races unscathed, but I also placed in
the top 5 in every race and in my last
race (where, in fact, I did achieve my
Spartan Trifecta), I placed 1st in my
Holidays 2015 FIT to Print
division!
PS: You model for a fitness agency. How
did you become involved in that?
KH: A few people that I know in the
industry had recommended I give it a try,
and I did. I did some work with TYR
Sportswear and was even cast in the lead
role on a show called “Stalked: Someone
is Watching” on the Investigative
Discovery Channel. I played the role of
professional Boxer Christy Martin, who
was one of the top female athletes and
boxers.
PS: Back to Fitness Incentive. You were a
trainer here for a time. Please discuss
how this came about and the things you
did here.
KH: I was a personal trainer only for a
few years while I was completing my
masters, and it came about from working
along with some of the other F.I.
trainers. I gained an interest, and while I
was putting myself through school, I
