Are You a Jumper?
Smarter Small Group Training
Diane Schilling, Peggy Turri, Shari Smith, Trainer Eileen Jacinth, Holly Mangieri, Stacey McFadden, Melissa Marinelo
is when you jump you open yourself up to a
completely new situation and experience.
This approach has become so popular that I
have a wait-list of clients waiting to join in
on a favorite group.
So, if I haven't sold you yet, let's go for
economics. An hour group training session
costs less than a half-hour private training
session. Not only do you get a full hour of
training, but benefits of training with a
group, far surpass any individual efforts. And
I can always make room for another
"jumper."
Group Training “Jumpers” Love It:
I never thought I would be in group training
but I love it – it is a real support system.
You never want to let the group down so
you really are motivated to come, and you
have some laughs. There are things I never
thought I could do, but with encouragement
from Eileen and the group I have been able
to – and it is always nice to be able to laugh
together, even if it is at yourself!
I really like the “Jumper” aspect that Eileen
has introduced. I have done it— I have my
regular times, but when I am in town more
than usual I ask to “jump” in on a
Wednesday. Eileen's groups are great and
they are always welcoming and supportive –
it is great to have that flexibility.

I
've been personal training for a very long
time. It's probably getting close to
decades. The nice thing about my
longevity is, I know what works. I believe in
working SMARTER, not harder when it comes
to health and fitness. Most of us have
limited time and short energy reserves, so
we need to maximize our efforts as much as
possible. Like most people, I want "instant
gratification," so seeing results right away is
a TOP priority. My fitness philosophy focuses
on SMART FITNESS routines that work
multiple body parts simultaneously to not
only maximize your training potential, but
cut your exercise time in half. Now, taking
this approach and incorporating it with
group training, you're instantly set up for
success.
I have mastered group training. It's a winwin situation. I have groups that have
trained together for years. The consistency
of the training weekly helps everyone stay
accountable. Between weekly weigh-ins and
progressively challenging workouts,
everyone is inspired to work harder. No one
wants to waste anyone's time. Everyone
gives it their all and works to the best of
their ability.
It is my job, as the trainer, to keep everyone
interested and stay on task. It's my job to
seek out continuing education regularly. I
am forever seeking out the newest, safest
and best ways to execute the most efficient
workouts. It's up to me to provide
modifications for those who need them
and to push clients to the next level.
Let's look at the wonderful things that
have grown from group training. Great
friendships have evolved. I've had great
success with putting groups together.
These unions have resulted with clients
meeting at other times and working
together. Whether in a class or just
training amongst themselves, they
schedule workouts together and are
accountable to one another. It is within
this system of accountability that success
is found.
Another fun aspect that has risen from
group training is what I call a "jumper."
This is one of my most flexible clients.
Unable to commit regularly to a particular
day or they can't make their regular group
session, I'm contacted at the beginning of
the week to see the availability to "jump"
into a group.
This "jumper" category has grown to a
whole new level. Clients love the
flexibility when they can't make their
usual session. Then, even better, they get
to experience the dynamic of a
completely different group. Some groups
are a mixture of males and females, some
are not, and many are composed of
people of different ages. The great thing
Spring 2015 FIT to Print
I have been a member of Fitness Incentive
for almost fifteen years, but I was only
introduced to Eileen and personal training
about three years ago. I have been hooked
ever since.
I love my weekly group trainings as they
give me the extra push I feel I need. Eileen
changes up our routine weekly, which I love.
Sometimes I may not like a particular
exercise that I feel is too difficult and I let
her know nicely, but she just gives me that
smile and says "Hmmmm…" which basically
means "Oh well. Just do it anyway." And I
do! She is always trying to push me to the
next level. I appreciate all I have learned
from Eileen as well as the time spent with
"the girls"—my friends and gym partners.

Eileen is great at explaining the importance
of good nutrition as well as the benefits of
each exercise. This means I can choose
which exercises to do on my own time and
know what benefits I am getting from them.
