After re-tipping my lure, I was back in business. As soon as I put my rod back in the holder, I had a fish on. I popped the fish free of the down rigger and the fight was on. I carefully reeled the shiny silver bullet to the side of the boat. where Captain Les was there with the net and in a flash the fish was on ice. The magic depth trolling depth for the day was between 30 and 40 feet and Captain Les kept the boat moving a slow 1 to 1.3 mph. At times it felt as if were not even moving. Over the next several hours, the action continued at a steady pace and before we knew it, we had filled out our limits. “The kokanee at Bullards are strong, fat and healthy,” said Captain Les. “We are seeing lots of fish in the 13 to 14 inch range. This was unheard of just a few years ago.” As we neared the end of our morning, Captain Les received a call from Captain Jeff aboard the Samantha Irene.
