SALTWATER VOL.37 • ISS. 26 Dec 7 - 21, 2018 25 SALTWATER REPORTS BERKELEY Crab Combos Produce Fall Feast For East Bay Saltwater Anglers BERKELEY - With Thanksgiving looming things couldn’t be better. Anglers that head out on combo trips are rounding up limits of crab, limits of rockfish and solid numbers of lingcod. The crab traps are spread out on the bars beyond the Golden Gate and the best rockfish fishing is taking place at the Farallon Islands. On the California Dawn’s most recent adventure anglers scored full limits of commercial grade crabs, full limits of rockfish and added some very nice lingcod while working the islands. Likewise, both the Happy Hooker and Goldeneye 2000 have been getting after both crabs and bottom fish landing limits of crabs and rockfish daily with a solid sprinkling of lings. If you want to stock up on snow white fillets and tasty crabs for the holiday season, jump on a charter boat and cash in on the fall bounty. BODEGA BAY Bodega Bay Is Ground Zero for Dungeness Crab, Rockfish & Lingcod on Combo Trips BODEGA BAY – Limits of Dungeness crab and rockfish continue to be the story out of Bodega Bay, and the only limiting factor for success has been when the winter weather keeps the boats tied up to the docks. Captain Rick Powers of Bodega Bay Sport Fishing said, “It’s as good as it gets for crab and rockfish as we haven’t missed yet with 10-crab and rockfish limits since the recreational opener on November 3rd. The big swell after this week’s storm slowed down the lingcod bite, but when we are able to get down to Point Reyes, the lingcod counts have been solid along with quality bottom-dwelling Anglers jumping on crab combos aboard the California Dawn have been landing some impressive rockfish.
