FISHERMAN’S WHARF
Charter Boaters Bag Rockfish,
Lingcod and Salmon
SAN FRANCISCO – Anglers have
been hooking limits of rockfish and some
lingcod at the Farallon Islands, while
salmon are still providing solid fishing
along the Marin Coast.
On Sunday, September 30, the 14
anglers aboard the Bass Tub bagged
20 salmon while trolling off the Marin
County Coast near Double Point. “The fish
averaged 8 pounds each and went up to
17 pounds,” said Aaron Anfinson, Captain
of the Bass Tub.
“Our latest bottomfish charter wanted a
trip to the Farallon Islands,” said Anfinson.
“They caught limits of jumbo rockfish
along with two lingcod, came back into
the bay and landed three halibut. Weather
out at the islands was very tough, but they
still ended up with full rockfish limits for 13
anglers. “

EL GRANADA - Rockfishing remains
the story out of Half Moon Bay after a brief
flurry of salmon occurring in front of the
harbor a few weeks back.
Since the six-pack Mooch Better
returned with 6 limits of salmon with
nine of the twelve fish tagged from the
Coastside Fishing Club, the salmon bite
has trickled to a crawl. Rockfishing is
excellent for limits of school and bottom-
dwellers along with the occasional lingcod
from the reefs south of the harbor.

The Riptide returned
with 25 limits of rockfish by
10:00 a.m. on September
30, according to the Half
Moon Bay Sportfishing
Center. A few boats are
making the long run to the
Marin coast for salmon, as
the local waters have not
be productive enough for a
Half Moon Bay party boat
to make a viable effort for
salmon.
On its previous adventure,
the Rip Tide came back with
5 salmon to 19 pounds for
12 passengers. The last two
bottomfish ventures by the
Queen of Hearts produced
limits of rockfish caught
off the San Mateo County
Coast.
Captain Tom Mattusch of
the Huli Cat said, “Salmon
action has been very slow,
but a few commercial boats
continue to troll up an
occasional salmon outside
of the harbor. The area
from Pedro Point to Mussel
Rock north of the harbor
is also yielding the odd
fish, but these are clearly
the exception. We took a
group of Cub Scouts out on
Saturday, and the wind was
predicted to be from 10 to 15
knots, but it was relatively
calm. Limits of rockfish have
been the rule from the local
reefs from Martin’s Beach
