As of press time Lake Shasta was 29 feet from maximum pool and rising about an inch per hour .
If you want a limit of kokanee salmon to 15.5 inches , the bite at Whiskeytown Reservoir has been very consistent . To hook up on of the best options is a Paulina Peak dodger teamed with either a pink Paulina Peak hoochie or a pink Apex .
The salmon are a bit scattered , but you ’ ll find them in the top 20 feet . The Highway 299 Bridge is a good place to start and you may limit our right at the bridge depending on the day .

Steelhead Season Ends with Great Fishing
SMITH RIVER – Steelhead fishing was very good on the Chetco River in Southern Oregon in the final days before the season closed on March 31 .
“ Lou Bors of Santa Rosa and his fishing partner ended up with 3 steelhead in the 8 to 11 lb . range on one of my final trips of the season ,” reported Phil Desautels of Phil ’ s Smiling Salmon Guide Service . “ Two were fresh fish and the other was a downrnner . They released all of the fish .”
The anglers landed the steelies while side drifting with yarn and Fish Pills with small pieces of roe from Ice Box to the Social Security Hole .

3705 stockings . The reservoir has been stocked with 2,000 trout this year and is scheduled to receive another 2,000 trout this week . Also 50 lunkers between 7 and 15 pounds were stocked this week .
In addition to trout , the reservoir was stocked with coho smolts until 2015 . Anglers have reported recent catches of coho measuring up to 14-inches . Many people mistakenly think these fish are kokanee . The coho smolts should be adipose fin-clipped , and please remember to release the ones less than 8-inches long .
Garrison Lake was stocked with trophy trout last week . Anglers slow trolling spinners , flies , or Wedding Ring spinners tipped with a worm all did well . Bank anglers can access the fishery from the 12th street or Pinehurst boat ramps and off Paradise Point Road . Anglers can check the stocking schedule for the weeks the lake is expected to be stocked .
Bradley Lake was stocked with legalsize rainbow trout last week . Trout anglers fishing from a boat can catch trout by trolling a spinner or Wedding Ring tipped with a worm .
No bank fishing without permission from land owners is allowed at Bradley , but an ODFW boat ramp allows anyone to fish from a boat . Anglers can also fish from the new dock at the boat ramp . Located about

Cooper Creek Reservoir received over 10,000 trout in 2017 . Fishing should be good with the addition of about 2,000 trout in early February . And another 1,500 are scheduled for this week . Cooper was also stocked in the last two years with coho salmon juveniles . These are often mistake for kokanee . Anglers may retain up to 5 as part of their daily trout bag limit . Please remember to release those less than 8-inches . Anglers have reported catching a few coho .
On the steelhead front winter steelhead fishing continues to be pretty good on the lower Rogue .
River conditions have been almost perfect and many steelhead were reported caught over the weekend with good catches reported by boat and bank anglers .
Spring chinook continues to be spotty . Anglers can expect spring chinook numbers to pick up over the next couple weeks .
A few fresh steelhead are still running up the rivers in the Coos Basin . The crowds near the acclimation sites will be thinning out this month but anglers have a good chance of catching steelhead through the month of March . Steelhead anglers are having success fishing eggs or yarn balls along the bottom or by fishing a jig suspended below a bobber . In the Coos Basin , 1 additional hatchery steelhead may be retained per day for a total aggregate of 3 adult hatchery fish harvested daily . Steelhead fishing is open in the Coos Basin through the end of April .
Anglers were reporting good catches of steelhead on the upper South Fork Coquille before the last rains . The North Fork Coquille will be the first steelhead river in the basin to become fishable . Steelhead are being caught on yarn balls , eggs , and even spinners .
