Do Flashers Produce More Hook Ups ?
That ’ s where the rubber meets the road … Do flashers help you catch more fish ? I say absolutely yes ! I don ’ t have any scientific proof , but I can say that when I go trolling with Paul Kneeland in the Fish Sniffer boat , we seem to catch more fish and see more action on the sonar unit when we have flashers in the water . And the spike in action isn ’ t restricted to the rod or downrigger running the blades .
My theory is that having a set whirling vibrating blades in the water draws fish to the boat , making them potential targets for every rod in your spread . I ’ ve experienced this when targeting both trout and kokanee .
If the fish are within about 30 feet of the surface I like to run flashers on one of my rods 100 feet behind the boat . If the fish are on the deep side I run the flashers off a
