Huge Stripers Battle Anglers
PITTSBURG - “The striper fishing is
absolutely incredible right now in terms of
the size of the fish we’ve been getting,”
exclaimed Captain Hayden Mullins of
Dragon Sportfishing. “Over the past week
or so we’ve boated 3 bass over 40 pounds
and 8 fish over 30 pounds.”
“We’ve been running combo sturgeon
and striper trips. The big bass have been
coming on live baits. We are catching from
2 to 5 bass per trip, but all of them are big,”
said Mullins.
“On our last sturgeon trip we got
slammed by wind and got skunked, but
our trip before that was a lot better. We got
three keepers and one oversize fish while
using a combination of eel, grass shrimp
and roe. If you are interested in big fish,
now is the time to come out and fish with
us because we are on some monsters,”

Fried Is Fabulous
ric sure had some hair raising adventures this month;
but, he’ll be taking me fishing very
soon he assured me. Watching the news, it
saddens me to see how that young shooter of
children in Florida was able to attain all those
hideous weapons and heaps of ammo without
any sort of genuine gate keeping or oversight.
Contrast that with the way the government
micro-manages hunters and their ammo. I
know that all states have Hunter Safety Cours-
es for hunting. All states require people who
drive cars to take a driving test with another
person and a written test.
It seems that if there were some sort
of gate keeper – like a gun safety/civilian
personal responsibility course, whatever.. for
gun users who aren’t hunters, it might’ve provided this young
man with at least one more door to pass through,
knowledgeable and caring people to talk to, and one
more chance to change his mind.
Our president says we need to go around looking
at people who are mentally unstable. Having worked
in a group that opposed the USAPATRIOT Act, I
think the government deciding who is mentally stable
and who isn’t is a very slippery slope.
Hopefully, the issue won’t be used to divide
Americans (like it usually does). I get sick of politi-
cians using these tragedies to get votes. I hope we can
start making changes where they need changing in a
way that doesn’t take us down a worse road. Anyway,
here’s two new ways that I fried fish this month.
