season . It appears the region will be returning to quiet mild weather for at least the next week , with day time high ’ s reaching into the midfifties . While the snow will hang around , roadways are clear with no travel restrictions .
Water temperature continues to hover around the low forties and ice was forming in Geritol Cove this past week . The recent CDFW planters continue to hang out in and around Geritol Cove , these fish are running in the 12-15 ” size . They are nice healthy fish and eager to play .

The recent storms kept boats off the water as the boat ramp was covered in more than a foot of snow for a couple of days . The parking lot has been cleared , yesterday the North side of the ramp was cleared and useable , the South side still had snow , but it should be clear in a couple of days .

Shore Anglers Nail Trout
IONE – Anglers are battling good numbers of rainbow trout at this Mother Lode impoundment . Shore fishermen are using PowerBait , Power Eggs , nightcrawlers and jigs to hook the trout , while boaters are trolling with broken back Rapalas in the top 3 to 5 feet of water .
“ We ’ ve planted 18,150 pounds since October ,” said Elizabeth Lockhart at the Lake Amador Resort . “ We continue to stock trout three times per week , with a total of at least 1200 pounds .”
Ron Marquez landed a 7.2 lb . rainbow while using a green and black crappie jig . Alan Nakamura landed a $ 100 tagged trout on yellow Power Eggs .
Victor Parez caught his limit and landed another tagged fish bank fishing about 20 feet from shore with PowerBait and a Kastmaster .
“ I haven ’ t heard any word on the bass or catfish action lately , since people are concentrating on the trout , she noted .
The lake is 18 feet from full and the boat launching facilities are in full operation .

Steelhead Keep Moving Into Hatchery
SACRAMENTO - Decent numbers of steelhead continue to arrive at the Nimbus Fish Hatchery on the American River .
“ Yesterday we trapped 100 adults and 3 half pounders ,” said Gary Novak , hatchery manager . “ We spawned a total of 23 females , taking a total of 154,000 eggs .”
The hatchery staff has taken a total of 889,968 steelhead eggs to date . “ We should have more than enough eggs to meet our
