trapped a total of 13,824 adults
and 7,279 jacks and this season,
reported Anna Kastener, hatchery
managed.
“We’ve taken over 15,000,000
eggs, including 2,000,000 fish
above the mitigation goal that the
NorCal Sportsmen’s Association
requested,” said Kastener.
The salmon fishing on the
Feather River is pretty much
over this year. Shore anglers
and boaters are hooking some
steelhead, ranging from half
pounders to 5 pounds, above
Gridley, according to Bob Boucke
of Johnson’s Bait and Tackle in
Yuba City. The best baits are
nightcrawlers, Glo Bugs and roe.
FOLSOM LAKE
Target Bass 20 Feet Or
Deeper
SACRAMENTO – The bad
news is that few anglers are trying
for black bass or rainbow trout at
Folsom Lake. The good news is
that the lake level is slowly rising.
Folsom Lake is holding 573,594
acre-feet of water, 59 percent
of capacity and 120 percent of
average. The water level is 425.43
feet in elevation.
If you want to hook bass
at Folsom, Don Paganelli

Experience recommended looking
for fish off structure or points.
“Fish 20 feet deep or deeper
with drop shot rigs, tubes and
Carolina-rigged plastic worms,” he
tipped. “The key is to slow down
your presentation, now that the
water temperature has cooled
down.”
On his most recent trip to
the lake, Paganelli caught and
released 20 spotted bass, ranging
from 1-1/2 to 3 pounds, while
using Blade Runner spoons.
Few anglers have been
targeting rainbow trout or king
salmon lately. However, that
should soon change, due to a
plant of rainbows from the CDFW
the week of November 19, the first
plant of the fall.
As the lake turns over, bank
anglers have the opportunity
to bag rainbow trout and some
king salmon.
Fishermen
should toss out
nightcrawlers,
Power Bait
and minnows
in the Brown’s
Ravine, Granite
Bay and Five
Percent areas.

YREKA - Steelhead fishing is
superb on the Klamath River from
below Iron Gate Dam to Interstate
Five.
“Conner and Kerry put on quite
a show trying to outcast one
another with their Poop sauce
Rapalas,” said Scott Caldwell of
SC Guide Service. “Yes, I said
Poop sauce. Yesterday, between
laughs, I blended together some
Pro-Cure scents and few other
special ingredients and came up
with a lovely-looking mixture. It will
now affectionately be known as
Scott’s special ‘Poop sauce’.”
This October Andrea Kukulaka and
Jason Graves abandoned the saltwa-
ter for the challenge of taking on the
Mokelumne River from their kayaks
and had a great time landing and re-
leased largemouth and spotted bass.
