The popular campground and launch location , Lawson ’ s Landing at Dillon Beach has applied for an amendment application for an improved wastewater system to improve showers , full hookups , and bathrooms at their site , and a hearing will be held on Wednesday , November 8th , at the Bodega Bay Marine Lab at 9:00 a . m . to decide the fate of this application .
They are also proposing improvements to the roadways and buildings around the entrance of the campground that would reduce traffic congestion and improve services available for our guests in that area , and they asking for as many supporters possible to attend the meeting ,

According to Lawson ’ s Landing opponents to the amendment are asking for a complex and expensive system that would jeopardize the feasibility of affordable camping or even possibly create the financial risk of keeping our doors open to the public . The work at the Westside Launch Ramp is completed and the ramp is scheduled to open for the opening of recreational crab season on November 4th .

Dungeness Crab Season Opens , Salmon Season Closes
EL GRANADA - The arrival of Dungeness crab season is highly anticipated out of Half Moon Bay , and Sherry Ingles of Half Moon Bay Sport Fishing said , “ The crab opener is the biggest event of the year here with the parking lots to be full with RV ’ s , all of the campgrounds filled , and the launch ramps busy . It is like the old days during the salmon opener when there were cars parked up and down Highway 1 , and now the crab opener is much larger than the salmon opener .’
Ocean salmon fishing closed on October 31st , but as of the final few days of the season , private boaters and kayaks continue to get in on the action around the Green Can . Ingles said , “ One of our kayakers who has consistently been catching fish showed me another picture today , and one private boat hooked three and landed one on the last Saturday .”
Captain Tom Mattusch of the Huli Cat was out on a scattering at sea week , and he said , “ The Gravy was out salmon fishing between the buoys , and they hooked one and lost one around 3:00 p . m . The sea lions have been working over the salmon off of the breakwater as well as inside of the harbor as there are still salmon coming in to the harbor .”
The change in depth restriction has led to fewer of the quality rockfish that were found at 40 fathoms , but there are still plenty of vermilions and browns with Ingles stating , “ We have had some bomber blue rockfish lately .”
Half Moon Bay Sport Fishing will be offering rockfish trips through the end of the season while Mattusch and the Huli Cat is the only large party boat offering the crab / rockfish combination trips .
Ling cod action has slowed with the big swells along the coastline over the past two weeks , but the bite should improve as the swell backs off and the lings move in closer to the shorelines to spawn .
Further north in Pacifica , the Dungeness crab opener will lead to a very crowded Pacifica Pier and the rocky shoreline area for those throwing crab snares loaded with squid or anchovies . - Dave Hurley
