CARSON PASS REGION
Better Trout Fishing Expected With Cooler Weather
KIRKWOOD – Trout fishing is tough at Caples , Silver and lower Bear River lakes , but that should all change when the current heat wave makes way for cooler weather .
“ A few people have been picking up trout ,” said Tim Codde at the Caples Lake Resort . “ A father and son landed 4 rainbows on a recent trip . However , others have reported getting shut out .”
Most people are either bait fishing with PowerBait and nightcrawlers from shore at the spillway , dam and creek inlet or are trolling with crawlers behind flashers or dodgers .
He hasn ’ t heard of any mackinaws or browns landed over the past few weeks .
Slow fishing was also the report from the Bear River Resort . Jimmy , who works at the resort , did catch a 4 lb rainbow while fishing PowerBait , in addition to losing a bigger fish .
