Great Weather, Great Fishing
Greet Fall Anglers In Cabo
T
he weather has been really nice with days in the mid 80’s and lows in the lower 60’s to low 70’s.
As pleasant as it gets with light breezes in the afternoons cooling down at night but it isn’t as cool
as I remember other November is here in Cabo. It seems past Novembers were much cooler but this
year and last year also it hasn’t cooed down like it used to. We aren’t complaining cause its still nice
out but just not really cool yet,” related Captain Jerry Chapman of JC Sportfishing.
“The marlin have moved north of Ranch Migrino and we are still seeing some great action in this
area. Lots of marlin are being landed in the vicinity of the Light House to San Jamie and up in and
around Ranch Migrino. There has even been a few blue marlin landed and many striped marlin hitting
our bait also. If you like sailfish action you can even get in on that if you head up in the same area the
marlin are hitting. We have seen lots of sails landed this past week making for some really good bill-
fishing. Most are being caught on lures and Cabillitos,” said Chapman.
“The dorado fishing has really just stopped this past week and isn’t anything like it was last week
when we were landing 20lb to 40lbs fish all week. I think they might have just moved further north and
we are hoping to see more dorado action coming but it could be coming to the end of dorado season for
a bit. I hope this is not the case but its possible,” Chapman asserted.
“The tuna action has been very good
this past week and we are excited to
see them in the area and biting really
good but we do have to run a bit for
them as they are offshore from 12 to
21 miles as of lately. If you find the
porpoise you are likely to find the
tuna and to let you know our own Bob
Marlin boat did land a 170lb tuna this
past week along with a lot of football
size tuna. So all in all its still good
but they are out there and in the area,”
said Chapman.
“Wahoo fishing is also very good
up and around Rancho Migrino and
most fish are being caught on Rapalas
using downriggers. There has been
some nice fish up to 40lbs landed,”
Chapman concluded.
Weather Changes
Affect Fishing In La Paz
he weather isn’t bad, but it’s changing quickly.
Almost overnight, it changed. It got cooler
by 10-12 degrees. It’s supposed to be in the mid-90’s
right now instead of the low 80’s. Humidity dropped
tremendously as well. And the winds came up too.
Even had a storm during the week that shut us down
for a day,” reported Jonathan Roldan of Tailhunter
International.
“The fishing has been affected tremendously by the
abrupt change in weather. Some high spots and some
big fish, but overall, the fishing took a dive…or the
fish took a dive. Either way, fishing got tougher. Hate
to think the awesome tuna bite of 2018 is over,” said
Roldan.
“More winds expected this week, especially from
the north which is usually a sign of winter weather
approaching and rougher seas. Possibility here and
there of rain showers, but mostly sunny week ahead,”
Roldan wrapped up.
Big tuna are on the chomp off Baja’s East Cape. This big fish was
landed in late September.

This angler got a major thrill while trolling the East Cape offshore of the Hotel Palmas De Cortez
