BERRYESSA LAKE
Bassers Target Largemouths
with Drop Shot Rigs
WINTERS – Boaters are experiencing
solid black bass fishing at Lake Berryesa,
even though we’re in the midst of the later
summer doldrums.
“Two of us caught and released 15 bass
on our latest trip to Lake Berrryessa,”
said Don Paganelli of Paganelli’s Bass
Fishing Experience. “All of the fish were
largemouths except for two spotted bass.”
“The fish hit between 15 and 30 feet
deep,” he advised. “We drop shotted with
Robo Worms in Aaron’s Magic on different
spots in the lake’s main body.”
The bass ranged from 1 to 2 pounds,
with the largest weighing around 3
pounds. The surface water temperature
ranged from 78 to 80 degrees.
The kokanee salmon and rainbow
trout fishing is still going strong at Lake
Berryessa.
“We had a great day at Berryessa
with clients today,” said Rich Crispi of
TW Guide Service. “We experienced an
excellent morning bite
when I got to the right
spot. The fish were
stacked from 44 ft to 95
ft. We got to go search
for them. There were
no big fish today – the
largest was 15 inches
long.”
“After we caught 11
kokes, we trolled for
some bigger fish,” he
stated. “We landed 6
rainbows while trolling
with RMT Serpent
Spoons in pink flash
and orange flash. We
also caught a kokanee
while trolling a Speedy
Shiner”

Enthusiasts
Limit Out
DOBBINS – Fishing
pressure has tapered
off during the warn
summer weather at
Bullards Bar Reservoir,
but that hasn’t stopped
anglers from catching
their 10 fish limits of
tasty kokanee salmon.
“My latest trip to
Bullards produced good kokanee fishing,”
reported Craig Newton at Willfish Bait
and Tackle. “There were a lot of kokanee
ranging from 9 to 13-1/2 inches long. I did
best trolling pink and dark green hoochies

behind dodgers at 60 feet and deeper.”
On his latest trip to Bullards, Rob
Reimers of Rustic Rob’s Guide Service
said two anglers fishing with him landed
their 10 fish limits of kokanee salmon.
“The fishing has slowed down a bit,
but we still ended up with limits,” said
Reimers. “The salmon averaged around
12 inches long and the largest measured
13 inches. We trolled at 40 to 60 feet deep
with Brad’s Kokanee Series Cut Plugs at
40 to 60 feet deep. The best colors were
hot pink and pink magic.”
Bret Brady of Bare Bones Guide Service
reported top-notch kokanee fishing on his
most recent trip to Bullards Bar.
“Finally, we boated a true 14 1/2 inch
kokanee out of Bullards Bar,” said Brady.
“It’s still a great bite out there trolling at
60 to 70 feet. Anything orange and pink is
working best.”
Bullards Bar is holding 761,688 feet of
water, 79 percent of capacity and 102
percent of average.
Anglers trolling with worms behind
dodgers or with Rapalas at Englebright
Reservoir are landing holdover rainbow
trout and a few brown trout. The boat
launch facilities and day-use recreation
areas are open.
Engebright Reservoir is holding 68,0466
acre feet of water, 97 percent of capacity
and 103 percent of average.

CAMANCHE LAKE
Trolling Deep Required for
Trout Success
BURSON- - Lake Camanche continues
to be heavily impacted by recreational
boaters who arrive on the lake by 10:00
a.m. on a daily basis. The weekends are
very crowded, and many boats are turned
away due to the quota of boats allowed on
the lake.
Holdover rainbow trout are a possibility
for those getting on the lake at first light,
