4 August 21,, 2020 VOL.39 • ISS. 18 COVER STORY Kris Kent caught this rare Norcal bluefin tuna while trolling offshore of Half Moon Bay in late July. As of press time tuna were still present beyond Deep Reef. Other saltwater action was going well too. Outside the Golden Gate limits and near limits of salmon to 30 lbs have been the rule. Inside S.F. Bay halibut fishing remains red hot. Along both the central and northern California coast, rockfish action has been solid and there have been good numbers of bonus lingcod showing up too. Yes! Most states are encouraging fishermen to spend time on the water, as long as they are being safe and following local regulations and guidelines. After all, what better way to practice ‘social distancing’ while maintaining your mental health than by getting outside and enjoying some fishing? Here are some basic guidelines for safe fishing during the COVID-19 Crisis: Stay home if you are Fisherman’s Warehouse sick, or showing or feeling any COVID-19 symptoms, such as fever, coughing, and/or troubled breathing Practice social distancing by keeping at least six (6) feet of distance between yourself and others. A good way to measure this is with your fishing pole! Hold the pole straight out in front you. If you can turn in a circle without hitting anyone, that is a safe distance. Follow CDC guidelines, such as wearing a mask in public. Avoid touching your eyes, THE BULLETIN BOARD OF UPCOMING EVENTS Editor’s Note: Due to COVID 19, events are being cancelled and postponed.
