Just ask Ken, who caught a 15 lb. trout
from the first dock while using a custom
spoon, reported Joe Sullivan of the East
Bay Regional Park District.
And that’s not the only hefty rainbow trout
brought in lately. Phil caught a 6 lb. trout
from his kayak while using a silver and blue
Kastmaster.
Pat and Raul from San Jose caught three
trout weighing 8 pounds each near the boat
launch. The duo also landed an 8 lb. trout
on their following trip.
Angie Yu of Newark caught a five-and-a-
half-pound rainbow on green pumpkin and
garlic PowerBait on the first dock.
Shadow Cliffs Lake received 750 pounds
of rainbows from the park district and
another 1000 pounds of trout from the
CDFW the week of January 29.
“The weather has been cold in the
mornings but warming up to a comfortable
temperature in the 60s by the afternoon,”
said Sullivan. “The water temperature is 54
degrees, depending on depth. The water
visibility seems to vary between 10-15 feet.”

COLFAX - “I’m still catching rainbow
trout at Rollins Lake, but not as many as I
had been a couple weeks ago,” reported
Jason Pleece of Meadow Vista. “Most of
the fish have moved beyond the mouth
of Long Ravine at this point. I’m getting
them while
