The water temperature is 58 degrees , depending on depth . Visibility seems to vary between 10-15 feet .
“ Justin and his friends Pete and Andre were out boating when they landed limits of trout while using white Power Eggs ,” he said . “ Sam of Pleasanton caught his limits of trout out on his boat and he was bait fishing .”
Justin , Pete , and Andre bagged their limits of trout using white Power Eggs . Joaquin Iberra and friend , of Livermore caught limits of trout fishing from his kayak . They were fishing chartreuse PowerBait near the Stanley side of the lake .
Henry Mestoe of San Jose reeled in 4 trout from his boat while using Mice Tails and Power Eggs . Sam of Pleasanton caught his limit of trout while bait fishing near the middle of the lake .
Anglers are also catching and releasing black bass while fishing Senkos in the main lake .
The weather at Shadow Cliffs has been cool in the morning to warm in the afternoon with the temperatures in the low- 40s to the high-60s .

Bass Lead Catches As Trout Fishing Rebounds
REDDING - Fishing is solid at Lake Shasta at this time , but with so many options available to north state outdoor enthusiasts , crowds are exceptionally light . If you like enthusiastic fish and ample elbow room , now is the time to hit Shasta !
“ Fishing for spotted bass is outstanding at Lake Shasta at this time ,” reported Capt . Kirk Portocarrero of SacRiverGuide . com . “ Topwater lures have been performing really well . We are using Ricos and a variety of other poppers . Worms are working well too , but that topwater bite is really exciting .”
“ We have been doing most of our bass fishing up in the Pit River Arm . Some of the bass have been running very large and we ’ ve gotten several right around the 5 pound mark ,” added Portocarrero .
Trout fishing had been very slow at Shasta , but at this point the bait is starting to move toward the surface and rainbows are once again cooperating with anglers fishing near the dam and other areas of the main body . To hook fish to 4 pounds , pull shad imitating spoons such as Hum Dingers and Kastmasters and stay on the move .

Brown trout are offering up some exiting sleeper action at the lake . The browns are pushing up toward the top ends of the river arms as they stage for the spawn . Minnow plugs are the best offering for hooking these fish which can run up to 6 pounds . Trolling is the most productive approach , but plugging structure with suspending minnow plugs “ black bass style ” is the most exciting approach .

Trout Prospects Strong In Southwest
ROSEBERG - Trout anglers in the Rogue should be very excited with releases of excess rainbow trout recently . Most Rogue lakes have been freshly stocked for the fall months .
Waterbodies offering fresh opportunity include Lake Selmac , Applegate Reservoir , Lost Creek Reservoir , Agate Lake , Willow Lake and Medco Pond .

Anglers fishing from the county fish dock on South Tenmile Lake and boat anglers fishing in 10-16 feet of water have been catching yellow perch fishing with a worm near the bottom . There are lots of small yellow perch so anglers will have to sort to find larger perch . Anglers are reporting decent catches of bluegill and crappie while fishing for yellow perch .
The wild Coho salmon season on Tenmile Lakes opened on Oct . 1 and will continue through Dec . 31 . Anglers have been catching a few wild Coho this past week trolling spinners and crankbaits .
Plat I Reservoir has been stocked several this year with legal-size trout . In addition to trout fishing , the lake also has good bass fishing . Where access is available , anglers may have success catching trout and bass with bait such as PowerBait and nightcrawlers . The reservoir is drawn down every fall to allow collection of water for the next irrigation season . Plat I has been drawn down for the season .
At Diamond Lake , trout fishing has slowed after an excellent summer and early fall . Fishing can still be productive under the right conditions , but angler need to be alert for light bites . Diamond Lake has been stocked with tiger trout . These fish are intended to assist in controlling illegally introduced tui chub . Tiger trout are catchand-release only and need to be released immediately and unharmed if caught .
Garrison Lake received an additional 1,500 trophy trout last week . There are still some tagged trout in the lake and anglers
are encouraged to report any tagged trout they catch .

and steelhead fishing front , anglers plunking off gravel bars in the lower Rogue River have been doing well for steelhead and Coho . Rains late in the week will raise flows and probably make for some tough fishing conditions . Anglers will want to check flows prior to heading out and try to fish when river levels are dropping and clearing .
Steelhead fishing has continued to be good in Grants Pass at Griffin Park , Schroeder Park and near the footbridge area by Reinhardt Park . Steelhead anglers should be aware of spawning Chinook , and avoid spooking fish off their redds . The best bet for summer steelhead is drift fishing small roe , yarn balls or cocktail shrimp . They can also still be caught on small k-9 or k-11 plugs . Fly-fishers are doing well swinging copper johns or egg imitations . Hatchery Coho salmon numbers should be peaking now in the Middle Rogue as well . Beginning Nov . 1 and continuing for the rest of the year , fishing is restricted to artificial flies and lures from the Fishers Ferry Boat Ramp upstream to the boat ramp at Shady Cove Park . Bait is allowed upstream of the Shady Cove boat ramp .
LAKE TAHOE
Mackinaws & Rainbows Bite , Anglers Largely Absent
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE - The fishing at Lake Tahoe is fair to good depending on the day , but with snow flying , ski resorts open and the holiday season looming fishing pressure has been exceptionally light at the big lake .
“ I reached out to Cal Kellogg at the Fish Sniffer because I ’ d been reading about folks hauling kayaks up to Tahoe for mackinaw . I was curious if I really had a chance of hooking up and if it was safe to fish the lake from a kayak during the late fall and early winter ,” said Robert Souza of Sacramento .
