found great rainbow action this week
while fishing PowerBait about 100
yards right of the boat ramp,” said
Newton. “His fish ranged from 10 to
16 inches long.”
Boaters can also find solid action
on both rainbows and browns while
trolling spoons, spinners and minnow
imitation lures. At press time, anglers
were still able to launch on the boat
ramp, but the ramp could become in-
accessible as the lake level goes down.
He advised boaters in search of
browns to fish the deeper drop offs
near the river inlet. “Your best bet is
to troll with Shad Raps in crawdad
patterns along the bottom,” he tipped.
“You can hook quality browns in the
4 to 5 lb. range, along with smaller
browns, while using this method.”
Fish Sniffer subscribers Kristy
and Mike Carpenter also reported
top-notch fishing on recent trolling
adventure at the lake.
“The lake was also basically
deserted,” said Kristy Carpenter.
“We launched at 8am and trolled for
rainbows and hopefully browns. We
always have luck for trout with GVF
lures and this trip was epic.”
“We landed 16 trout to 16.5” with
many lost fish,” she said. “These fish
were beautiful and super clean. We
caught them from the surface to 45’.
We had a double and a triple hook-
up. We used the GVF Holly’s Ruby
Slipper and Silver Comet, Pinkanator/
Moonshadow flashers, purple/gold
