The Volunteer Okey Cokey We wouldn't be here without you!

NCT Beckenham & Borders is run entirely by volunteers, mostly parents of young children. Our Branch Structure Diagram puts names to our volunteer roles, and an overview of what each involves can be seen on our website. There have been a lot of changes within the team since our last magazine:

We’re excited to be working with Emma Mould, who has set up a ‘baby bundles’ project, Croydon Brighter Beginnings, to support disadvantaged mothers and babies in the Borough of Croydon, alongside Bromley Brighter Beginnings and Lewisham Brighter Beginnings. Emma is also a new volunteer at Baby Cafe Penge.

We’re delighted to be keeping queen of social media, Suzaan Bell, as Bumps & Babies Coordinator, and welcome Margie Bennett and Emily Hancock as new regular volunteers, with Emily also helping out at Baby Cafe Beckenham. Ramona Marsh stepped down as Bumps & Babies Co-Coordinator when she returned to work, but we’re thrilled she has instead taken on the much-needed role of Fundraising Coordinator. She is joined by Chinonye Iroegbulem, our new Events Coordinator and blagger extraordinaire; they’d love to hear any and all of your fundraising ideas at [email protected].

Ruth Franklin left us as Social Media Editor and Web Editor, but we’re not losing her altogether as she’s still our queen of the Nearly New Sale cafes. We’re happy to have Liz Urie on board as Social Media Editor, while Julie Cleary and I have taken over the website.

After many years of dedicated service, Olga Kim is stepping down as Branch Treasurer; her efficiency, patience and unflappability has seen us through many a tight spot and we are extremely grateful for all the time she has put in. Another old-timer, Esther Oag, stepped down as Deputy Treasurer following the arrival of her 3rd baby - thank you for all your work before and after the amalgamation with NCT West Wickham. We welcome Tamsin Bishop into the Branch Treasurer role, and would love to hear from you if you are interested in supporting her as Deputy Treasurer.

We finally had to let Grace Bartlett move on from Next Baby Teas Coordinator, with her ‘next baby’ fast approaching 3 years old! We’ll miss her lots, but look forward to Claire Plumbly, who recently welcomed her 3rd baby, shaking up the Next Baby group.
