Seasons greetings and welcome to the
Winter edition of 'First Words'. Oooh,
it's gotten chilly out there...
As parents, we are bombarded with
advertising imagery from when our kids are embryos. A friend said recently that hers was "not a cereal packet family". This inspired me to consider the diversity of family types in our neck of the woods - and, of course, to nag the the parents to write about their experiences! Hopefully, this issue is a snapshot of some of the less stereotypical family experiences, that are often missing from the mainstream media and advertising material that claims to represent parents. Huge thanks to all our contributors for sharing their time, their laughs and their tears. Hope you enjoy reading and clicking.
