First Words Winter 2017 | Page 17

After coming to the group for a couple of months, I started to volunteer. This felt like a really helpful and rewarding thing to do. It just means getting to the group half a hour earlier to open up and staying 15 minutes later at the end to pack away. I set up the play area, put the kettle on and arrange the biscuits (whilst trying not to eat any!) At the end of the group, I pack away and lock up - job done.

We are really short of volunteers for the group and it would be a real shame if it had to close down, as it is such a lifeline for so many new parents. If anyone would like to volunteer, even for one Wednesday a month, it would be a real help to the group. Like I said, volunteering is very rewarding, can go on your CV and I also found helped me to keep my brain

Please please please contact [email protected] urgently if you could help, as THE GROUP WILL NOT RE-OPEN AFTER CHRISTMAS IF ENOUGH NEW VOLUNTEERS DO NOT COME FORWARD.

If you are looking for support and want to socialise this is definitely the group for you. It's lovely too watching the babies chat and gurgle away to each other. When they recognise each other from previous weeks it is so cute you can't help but smile. Bumps & Babies has made my week during my maternity leave. Come along and let it make your week too. Hope to see you soon.
