outdoor ideas for little crafters

You will need:

• Old cotton sheets or

pillowcase cut into pieces

• Mallet, hammer or log

• Freshly picked leaves/petals

Miles placed his leaves onto a large, flat tree stump and carefully laid the cloth over them. We checked around to make sure there were no people nearby, then he set to bashing them with the mallet! Juicy leaves like rowan and lime work best, and flowers with lots of pigment, like dandelions or buttercups produce brighter colours. For a symmetrical design, place all of the petals and or leaves on one side of the cloth then fold it over before you bash.

sticky nature bracelets

You will need:

• Sticky tape/gaffa tape

• Leaves/petals etc.

Make a tape bracelet with the sticky side out and send your little explorers on a treasure hunt! Collect petals, leaves, feathers and seeds until you have filled all the gaps. Use regular sticky tape or gaffa tape, and slip a finger under the tape to make sure it's not too tight.

Caution: remember to tie back long hair before you break out the tape, or you may end up having to reach for the hair scissors!
