Singers are 50:50 Churchfields parents and people from the community, aged 30-60. New joiners are welcomed with a folder of lyrics, a friendly smile, and the promise of evenings filled with laughter, friendship and song. Singing pop songs from across the decades, whether you’re a novice or an experienced singer, everyone blends together making us what we are.

CCC meet fortnightly on Thursdays 7.30-9.30pm at Churchfields Primary BR3 4QY. Fees £10 a term (free taster session). Visit our Facebook page, email [email protected], or follow @CCChoirHQ.

“An email to the local NCT group, from a total stranger, invited everyone to the new choir she was setting up. As a big fan of singalongs and karaoke, I figured I had nothing to lose. I went along and, following the challenging warm-up, decided this might be way above my level. But everyone was friendly, and one of the songs we did sounded beautiful to my inexperienced ear, so I kept showing up. In addition to making some lovely local friends, I've learned a load about music. I now hear (and attempt) harmonies that I never knew existed. The choir performs at lots of local events, which is a fantastic way of contributing to the community, and also a great conversation starter. After one of the local fairs, I heard my daughter proudly tell her friends "Mummy was singing up on stage", which was rather special. The people in our choir are up for a challenge, but don't take themselves too seriously. Some members are musically and technically brilliant; some, like myself, are enthusiastic but don't always get it right. We all work together - many songs sound incredible, and we're all very proud of them.”

Visiting experts run workshops and we've learnt how to break down songs and create harmonies. We've performed at events including Beckenham Market on the Green and Kirstie’s Handmade Fair, Tate Modern, and we've a regular slot at the Penge Goldsmiths Arms (next gig Thursday 30 March 8pm by the way!)
