First American Art Magazine No. 1, Fall 2013 | Page 11

Letters Bag by Jerry Ingram First American Art is wonderful. The writing is first rate and insightful. Your selection of art and artists to highlight is spot on. What a great start. I look forward to future editions. Ric Danay Mohawk of Kahnawake It’s such a beautiful magazine; it has to continue. I wanted to share that a friend who is a former bureau chief of US News & World Report and who investigated starting a magazine of local interest was extremely impressed by the layout & appearance of the first issue. Proud to know you and claim you as kin. Patsy Dahlonega, GA Dear Editor, Thank you so much for this magazine! Issue 0 with Erin Shaw’s work on the cover was beautiful and the whole mag is astounding. I read it cover to cover and can’t stop talking about the articles inside to everyone I know. I keep using references, from Jessica R. Metcalfe’s article “More Than Just a Trend: Rethinking the Native in Native Fashion,” in more than a couple of conversations I have been in recently with non-Natives on the topic of stereotypes. It is a hard subject to articulate, especially without people getting very defensive. So, thanks Jessica! Also, I loved the artist profiles and news of Native art going international. Can’t wait to read more! MM, Middle of Nowhere, Native America Need professional, high quality photos of your work? Contact Neebin Studios to schedule a photoshoot! Neebin Studios Based in Santa Fe, NM www.neebin.com/photography Dear America and Friends, The first issue of First American Art Magazine, if it is indicative of anything, promises that subsequent issues will be exciting, informative, relevant, fun to look at, and better to read! I am in awe. Congratulations to you all for a product that will, I believe, stand the tests of time and reviews to become a publication that is kept and re-read. You have set some very high standards for yourselves. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to the next issue. Martha L. Albrecht We welcome correspondence from our readers.
