SPARK OF LOVE
Apple Valley Fire District partnered with the Children’s Fund this year and helped organize
for families in need across the High Desert. It is great to see two different fire departments
working together for the greater good of the communities they serve. All told, Jason and
his team pulled in over 6,000 toys this year! Thanks to their networking, event planning
and help from the community, their large donations went out to over 5,000 kids within the
community, via different non-profits.
Trona collected a large donation from Searles Valley Mineral, Trona Community Chest,
Trona Gem, The Family Dollar and the Mineral Club. Their donations were able to help
200 children from 34 families. On December 23 the firefighters made a Winter Wonderland
and had Santa present to help distribute the toys at the local fire station. They served hot
chocolate and cookies while each child was able to receive several toys.
Division 4 is led by Todd Nelson and covers our mountain communities of Lake Arrowhead,
Crest Forest, Fawnskin, Forest Falls and Angelus Oaks. This year the areas of Blue
Jay, Lake Gregory/Crestline and Lake Arrowhead each held bonfire events. Organized
by Firefighter/Paramedic Anthony Muscarello, San Bernardino County Firefighters
Association sponsored the bonfire in Lake Arrowhead Village on December 7. At all of
these events food and great music were provided, Santa showed up and a the huge fire
helped to keep everyone warm.
