On July 17 last year, ME40 was the first county unit on scene of the North Fire. Considering By Richard Huntling the blaze spread to over 500 acres within the first hour, ME40’s initial efforts proved pivotal in mitigating dangers to life and property. In 2011, Station 305 crews were instrumental in helping save hundreds of homes during the Hill Fire, when 1,158 acres burned and threatened the communities of Oak Hills and Baldy Mesa.
