Driving in the dark I was surprised
to find the side front lights
incorporated and it transpires
they are cornering front fog
lamps.
The list of standard items on the
Laurin Klement models continue,
for example do you need lane
assistance, 2 compartment lights
in the boot, park assist, do you
need power front headlamp
washers, if you are gadget
person or an extras person then
definitely this particular derivative
will without doubt tick the boxes
for you.
The dual zone air conditioning
ensconced all occupants in a
wonderful ambient temperature
and was a delight in the short
period that we had when the
temperatures soared in to the
70’s and mid 80’s.
The 2-litre 150ps engine allied
to the DSG gearbox was
quite a pleasant performing
companion, it is not a vehicle
that rockets you from 0-60 in
phenomenally quick times, but
just under 9secs is not to be
scoffed at and a top speed
where legal of 132mph may
be sufficient for some people,
certainly far more than I need or
find necessary.
The gear change on the DSG
gearbox is wonderful, the only
noticeable difference with the
vehicle when changing gear
is by watching the rev counter
needle drop.
There is a serious amount of
space inside the Octavia, head
and legroom for 6 footers like
myself, is exceptionally good
in both front and rear seats,
drop the seats and you have
a vehicle that can carry a
huge amount of luggage and
extra items that may well be
necessary.
Whilst I have mentioned the L
and K derivative is extremely
well specified even the entry S
model is a well equipped vehicle
and it comes with alloy wheels,
Blue Tooth, air conditioning,
so you need to look carefully
at the necessary brochures
and with over 50 derivatives to
choose from and prices ranging
from marginally over £17,000
to marginally over £30,000 and
having 2 body styles, there could
be a vehicle within this range
which just is the one for you.
