Fire Engineering and sits on
several safety bodies.
He is also in charge of
busy Southampton stations
including Redbridge, St
Mary’s and Hightown as well
as the Community Safety
Team.
GM Deacon said one of his
most memorable moments as a
firefighter involved rescuing two
elderly woman from a house fire. He got a bad cut to the wrist
when he was forced to smash
a pane of glass to rescue the
causalities.
He was in breathing apparatus
in the building passing the ladies
from a first floor bedroom window
to his firefighter father who was
waiting on a ladder. He shared an ambulance
with one of the women he
saved and both father and son
got a Chief Officer’s letter of
Congratulation.
