Have a plan. You can plan for the financial
independence your goals require, but make
sure those goals are realistic and achievable.
You can’t reduce or eliminate hours at work and
still afford that vacation in the Caribbean,
Hawaii, Tahiti or Arizona, but you sure can
reduce expenses and invest wisely in an effort to
save money over time. Remember, everything in
life has a “Ying” and a “Yang.” First rule of
investing: pay yourself first.
Include family members. Be honest and open
with your spouse and children. If you need a
change, it more than likely will affect them as
well. It is also likely that they will want to help.
Let them offer their own goals and objectives,
and then work on the changes together.
