STEVE PRZIBOROWSKI, has over 20 years of fire
service experience, currently serving as a deputy
chief for the Santa Clara County (Los Gatos, CA) Fire
Department, where he has worked since 1995. Since
1993, he has taught fire technology and EMS classes
at the Chabot College Fire Technology Program
(Hayward, CA), and where he has also served as the
fire technology coordinator, and EMT program
director and primary instructor.
Steve is a former president of the Northern California
Training Officers Association, the 2008 Ed Bent,
California Fire Instructor of the year and a state-
certified chief officer and master instructor. He has
earned a master's degree in emergency services
administration, completed the Executive Fire Officer
Program at the National Fire Academy, and has
received Chief Fire Officer Designation through the
Commission on Professional Credentialing.
Steve is contributing editor to Firehouse.com, a
regular speaker at fire departments and fire service
events across the country, and has authored over 100
articles in all of the leading fire service publications,
including Fire nuggets.com.

and fire suppression efforts at the NorthTower and
WTC 7. He was named the WTC Chief of Safety in
October 2001 for the entire Recovery Operation
ending in June of 2002. On August 14-15, 2003, he
headed the Logistics Section for the FDNY during
the New York City Blackout. In the aftermath of the
2005 Katrina hurricane, he was designated Deputy
Incident Commander of the FDNY Incident
Management Team and sent to Louisiana to assist
the New Orleans Fire Department. In October 2012,
Chief Spadafora coordinated both mitigation and
logistical FDNY endeavors during Hurricane Sandy.
Chief Spadafora is an adjunct lecturer at both
Metropolitan College of New York (Emergency and
Disaster Management - Graduate Program) and John
Jay College (Fire Science – Undergraduate Program).
His latest book, Sustainable Green Design and
Firefighting: A Fire Chief’s Perspective, was published
by Delmar-Cengage Learning in 2013. He has written
dozens of articles in publications such as: WNYF
(With New York Firefighters), Fire Engineering, Size-
Up, and the American Journal of Industrial Medicine.
He holds a MPS degree in Criminal Justice from Long
Island University (C.W. Post Center), a BS degree in
Fire Science from John Jay College and a BA degree
in Health Education from Queens College (CUNY).
JESSE WOOTON, is a Firefighter / Paramedic for the
Palo Alto (CA) fire department assigned to an engine
company. Jesse has used his background in Systems
Engineering to develop a new fire attack model for
PAFD. He started his career under the tutelage of
Captain Mark VonAppen and has also sought out
several other mentors from across the country.

RONALD SPADAFORA is a 35-year veteran in the
Fire Department of New York (FDNY) and is the Chief
of Logistics in the Bureau of Operations. On 9/11, he
