Improved reporting on how procured
goods & services improve the
economic, social and environmental
well-being of our communities (as
per Social Value Act).
n Major procurement and contracting arrangements include
references to the Social Value Act and require suppliers to
support local employment and supply chain
n Accord is subscribed to the principles of Birmingham
City Council’s Social Charter which includes a fair pay
commitment to all employees in the Council’s supply
chain
n The Group’s Jobs and Skills Coaches who have worked
with over 200 members of the community with income
management support, helping them secure £100,000 of
additional income. In addition in 2015/16 the Group has:

Supported 182 people secure training opportunities
Provided 55 work experience placements to young
people
l Provided 94 volunteering opportunities to support
people with employment pathways
l Helped 147 into employment, 133 of which were
permanent roles.

n The Group is committed to the development and
implementation of a Social Value strategy which is
substantially completed and shall be approved and
implemented in 2016
n Accord uses, amongst other tools, the HACT Well-being
Valuation model to internally measure and assess the
impact of social value which is inherent in the Group’s
core housing and care services
n Skills for Life Project: 122 participants from a range
of referral types have accessed life skill enhancement
courses including music and craft workshops.
