challenge. But lifting the teapot was the most arduous of all. She was bones wrapped in a layer of skin.

Why were women seen like such a weak human? Why did she and all the other women in this country live like caged birds? They were all burdens to their families instead of a blessing. None of their parents enjoyed seeing them grow because they knew that they were useless. Even worse, when married the parents used to pay a dowry to the husband’s family. Thankfully, things are not as traditional as they used to be. Women do not need to brake their toes to have small feet and look good.

Yet, through all this sorrow and hollowness there was something the pained her the most, the fact that she would have to condemn her little girl to the same life. Of course, she tried everything to not have a child. She was willing to take the shame of not bearing one to save her from this life. However, she did get pregnant and she gave birth to a perfectly healthy girl.

As she sees her baby grow she feels the guilt inside her swell. She knows she will not be able to sentence her daughter to the same living hell she is in.

So, as the woman sits on her windowsill looking at the rain drops on the glass dripping slowly, almost painfully down, she thinks of her daughter. On how the woman and her daughter will have to act like the drops, through tortuous path in order to save themselves. She may not be ready now to begin walking down this road, but she will.
