This piece was also inspired by Tim Burton’s writing. I had previously written Vincent, but I was not totally pleased with the poem, so I began another one. I again wrote a creepy and weird story referring to the character by its name always. The idea came from a prompt that I gave in class which was, what would happen if head transplants were possible? Where would you be? I started with a first draft that was pretty bad. I again struggled really hard with being able to tell the story the way I wanted it. Because I never gave this piece major importance, I never made any big changes on it. I only changed some verses and words. The piece was only edited by me and it is evident. It is clearly not one of my best pieces. However, I really liked the prompt I came up with and you can see that in the poem. “Jack stopped dead; And using his unusually long bony fingers; Traced the thread up his chest; Only to discovered its origin was Jack’s neck” The idea or prompt in the story is transmitted to the reader, which I am proud of. It took me a lot of time to accomplish this. My weakness is that there are no powerful stanzas. There is not even one line that by itself would sound amazing. I a missing powerful phrases to make my piece unique. Yet, the piece is included in the portfolio for my effort in trying a different type of writing and for the original theme.
